What is Emotional Composing?

The music that happens when the audience becomes the composer.

Emotional Composing is a live format Martin Villiger has been developing and performing since 2006. He composes at the piano in real time, taking in the atmosphere, the stories shared and inputs from the audience in the room.

It is not background music. It is not a concert in the traditional sense. It is a shared experience: something that only exists once, created by everyone present, and felt by all of them.

Martin can perform solo or with special guests, adapting the format to your event's scale, atmosphere and objectives.

The Composer

Martin Villiger

Martin Villiger is a composer, pianist and musician based in Zurich. He has been performing Emotional Composing since 2006. In 2009 he composed, arranged and played the entire Salto Natale circus programme live for 68 consecutive nights.

In 2022 he founded Culture Clash, a concert format in Zurich built around live composition and musical spontaneity. Alongside his live work, he has spent 25 years scoring more than 130 films, 50 advertising campaigns and 400+ TV series episodes.
